Volunteers Rescue Cat And Kitten From The Road After Many Difficulties To Catch It
Volunteers waited weeks for Butterscotch the kitten to come on camera. Then, at long last, their efforts were rewarded.
A group of cat rescuers in St. John’s, Newfoundland, were in for the long haul in their attempt to save a mom cat and her babies. Because she moved them shortly after someone called to report the cat’s whereabouts, catching the mother and her kids proved to be a difficult task.
The non-profit Forget Me Not Animal Rescue received a message regarding a litter of kittens in late April. The woman had given birth in someone’s garden beneath a shed. They decided to go the next day to see for themselves. Unfortunately, by the time they got on the scene, the mother cat had already left.
“Momma had opted to relocate the kittens by the time we arrived the next day,” they stated.
The volunteers, however, knew the mother was close by, so they decided to play the long game and wait.
They’d given the mother cat Maggie’s name by this point, and they knew she’d be hungry after feeding her litter. As a result, the volunteers decided to establish a feeding station. They couldn’t catch her since she was caring for kittens.
“Our only option was to put up a feeding station for Momma, both to ensure that she ate well and to ensure that she would deliver the kittens when they were old enough. They reported she came every day, 3 to 4 times a day, and filled her stomach.
In addition to the feeding station, they installed a camera to monitor any activity. Hopefully, the kittens will appear one day, and their patience would ultimately pay off.
Maggie’s lovely calico kitty, Butterscotch, was caught on video one day. Then, when they tried to capture her, they had to be particularly patient.
“We kept an eye on her all week and were able to get her on Friday.” It takes a village, as they say. Butterscotch is the newest member of the Butterscotch family. They stated, “This 7-week-old calico female is doing fantastic.”
Someone from the rescue team had already shown an interest in taking Butterscotch home when she was ready. They had sighted one of the surviving kittens, but it had vanished. Hopefully, the kitty would appear at some point.
Butterscotch was “a vivacious young girl, FULL of energy” at ten weeks old, according to the rescuers. While she adored other cats, she wasn’t a pushover.
“She’s terrific with cats, but she like to be in charge.” Lol.”
Someone wanted to adopt Butterscotch soon after the gorgeous calico was posted. After that fell through, though, another person quickly stepped forward.
“Butterscotch is bathing in the morning.”
Now that the cat has found her forever home, she is still as adorable as ever.
The amateur rescuers ultimately caught Maggie after catching Butterscotch. She may now live out her days without having to worry about kittens requiring rescue (and weeks of hard labor, effort, and money).
“Have a wonderful Sunday!” Because Momma Maggie won’t be outdoors any longer! Maggie is Butterscotch’s mother, and we’ve been following her for the past eight weeks. Last night, we finally captured her!”
